45th Anniversary Celebration - Update: August 8th 2008

Back to School Event

The celebration of the 45th Anniversary of Whitebridge High School will be held on Saturday 13th September 2008, with a 'Back to School' event commencing at 11:00am and concluding at 4:00pm.

The program for the day is:-

11.00 am

• Memorabilia display, 'powerpoint' displays of student photos through the years 1963-2008 in the library.
• Display of current students art work in the library.

12 noon

• Musical items by student bands, ensembles and choirs in the hall or outdoor performance area.

2.00 pm

• Students versus Ex-students sporting challenges - netball, soccer, touch football
• Bring some suitable clothing / footwear to take part - even if you have not registered in the 'Forum' section of the 'Guestbook'!
• The senior students are 'looking forward' to some competition!

A barbecue will be operating in the canteen if people want to purchase a light lunch or cup of tea or coffee.

Anniversary Dinner

In the evening a combined reunion dinner will be held at Western Suburbs (Ncle) Leagues Club, New Lambton commencing at 7:00pm. It will include a 3-course meal, some entertainment, multimedia memorabilia presentation, photo opportunities, raffles and lucky door prizes.

The ‘expressions of interest’ received toward this function, by the various groups of ex students contacted to date, have been very encouraging. To cater for the large number of reunion years it is suggested that groups organise tables (of 10) for their respective members. Participation by partners is welcome and encouraged.
This event will have a maximum capacity of some 400 – 450 seated guests.

Some concerns have been expressed about needing to book a ‘table’ for the function, but all bookings are welcome (including single tickets). Just let us know your preferred seating arrangements, special requests and we will do the rest. It is important to note that interest for this event is coming strongly from all ex student age groups (even the most recent), so there will be someone from your era. 

Do you know of anyone who should be given a special invite to attend (for example, a retired teacher)? Let us know!! Some special guests would really add to the celebrations.

The time is NOW to make a firm commitment and reserve your seat at this function.

To finalise numbers for this function, the cut-off date for bookings is Tuesday 9th September 2008.

School Reunions - Information

Welcome to the Whitebridge High School Exers' reunion section. This has been set up as a community service to all ex students and teachers who wish to advertise any forthcoming events & functions celebrating the time  spent at our school.

We welcome all contributions (details, feedback, photographs, links) regarding all events held in the name of Whitebridge High School.

As a service to our community of Whitebridge Exers we are trying to build a list of contacts for all students intakes over the last forty years or so. Quite often we receive emails and telephone calls requesting contact details for a particular student intake so that a reunion can be organised.

This is your page, and your participation is urged to ensure our high school memories can be shared with one and all. New entries for this section are urgently sought!

Reunion Organisers - Contact Details

For some time the Ex Students Association has been trying to enlarge its contact base, so that all past students can be made aware of its existence, goals and activities.

As well, at some stage during our lives, it's great to catch up and have a reunion with our old school friends.
A contact list for reunion organisers for each new school year, that has passed through Whitebridge High School, is attached.

There are very few entries at this stage, but it would be great if at least one person could volunteer as a contact person for each year. Can you help?

WH Xers interested in organising a school reunion in their area can start right here! A good idea to get the ball rolling would be to leave a message on the forum. You should also contact a member of the committee, with your contact details and ideas for the reunion event, to discuss posting reunion details on this website.

1972 to 1975/1977 Reunion
Last year Kerry Keady (nee Murray) approached us for assistance to help organise a reunion for her 6th Form group that graduated in 1977 (we still do not have the reunion organiser's details!). Kerry has operated a corporate legal practice in Broken Hill since 1987, lives in Adelaide, has three beautiful daughters and is enjoying life to the full. Having left the Newcastle area in 1980 she has lost contact with her old school friends, has fond memories of her days at Whitebridge High, and would love to catch up again. Communication with Kerry can be made through the Forum section of the 'Guestbook'.
